Please Join Us for a Socially Distant Conversation!
ĒLXR Yoga Lounge and Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum are partnering to present our third edition of ‘Conversations for Change’ – A Group Discussion on the documentary 13th to take on the topics such as “intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the United States.”
We aim to create a thoughtful workspace for people of color and white women to join together to discuss how we can work as a community to fight oppressive social norms and better understand each other. Most especially, we want to create an entry point for white women who want to participate as anti-racist allies but may not have the right tool-kit or know how to enter the conversation.
We are here to talk through it! We ask that you pre-watch “13th” and we will use it as a jumping-off point for a group discussion, so come prepared with questions! The documentary is currently available for free on Netflix: https://www.netflix.com/title/80091741
Bring your own beverages, snacks, lawn chair (or car trunk), and an open mind. Come prepared to speak openly and honestly about your questions and experiences.
WHEN: Sunday, July 12, 7pm
WHERE: Arkansas Arts & Fashion Forum parking lot
203 E Emma Ave, Suite A, Springdale, AR (under the blue Help Card awning)
WHO: You and Your Friends!
WHY: To expand our vocabulary for discussions on inclusivity and the importance of anti-racist practice
Please note: to respect social distance guidelines, we will be meeting outdoors (weather permitting) in our parking lot with individuals spaced 6+ ft apart. Participants are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or plan to sit in their car’s trunk. Masks will be required. If you need a mask, AAFF will be able to provide one for you.
