Sometimes passive, sometimes active. Internal and external. Predominantly personal but necessary publicly. Empathy is both feeling and doing. It allows us to relate and connect with others, understanding their struggles and perspectives. A lack of it can result in apathy, narcissism, and even cruelty. This show examines and encourages empathy for individuals & ourselves (who we are) and actions that should outflow (what we do).
Cake is a thoughtful confrontation of society’s lack of empathy using a host of connected themes like greed, over-consumption, materialism, and waste. The exhibit juxtaposes beauty and luxury with realism, with an eye to the future, challenging the viewer to consider their own perspectives and make small changes.
Herd/Heard examines groups and identity. The exhibit asks, have we lost the ability to listen to others viewpoints? Can we agree to disagree? Does disagreement equal judgement? Can we look for areas of commonality? Can we seek to understand someone’s backstory and how they came to be where they are now?

Inspired by abstract geometric paintings, fiber art, stained glass windows, fashion design, and the colors and contour lines of the natural landscape, Rachel Hayes has created fiber-art installations that cover sand dunes, cross rivers, and billow over mountains. For this unique project, Hayes was commissioned by Interform to design a new sit-specific installation in the Quonset Hut.

A statement of appreciation for artwork assembled across time, space, and mediums. In a global landscape where fashion and art have become more accessible and widespread we ask ourselves, if art is created from something pre-existing, where do we place our value? Is it the original creation or the new interpretation? Do we place value in the memory of what came first or the way that the previous work has been re-collected and newly presented? Can we appreciate one without the other?

The Art of Process: Under Construction, an exhibition and retail experience curated by Jasper Logan. The exhibition will showcase works that explore the different stages of the creative process, from preliminary sketches to deconstructed pieces and site-specific installations. In addition, it will host live events, podcast recordings, and workshops, featuring artists and creatives who will share their insights into their creative journey.
Alongside the exhibition, it will also feature a retail space that highlights the work of local designers, and a weekend event series that celebrates the creative spirit and allows individuals to accept that their own process can be fun and enjoyable.
Above all, it aims to provide a safe and welcoming space where visitors can explore their own creativity, embrace their unique creative process, and celebrate the beauty of the art-making journey. Valued, an exhibition curated by Jessica and James Whalen. This exhibition will feature humanity’s intrinsic need and birthright to create-whether for beauty, utility, storytelling, or the alchemic combination of all of the above.
Art and creativity have been a part of humans since we began. We told stories, crafted images and sculptures, innovated, made music and made our homes beautiful. Some mediums got put into the “craft” category and others got elevated to “art”. That division created the culture of gatekept, “high value” art, and craft as domestic clutter whose accessibility has “lowered its value”. But now we’re looking at a new era. Open source or low cost AI and public spaces offering 3D printers are allowing art to be more accessible, and the evidence of human touch is now being seen as the soul, the thing “the computers can’t take away”.
The value gap is closing in our culture, but those of us creating? Those of us putting our souls into every brush stroke, key stroke, music note and stitch? We’ve always known: our existence is being witnessed through what we make, and you can’t put a price on that.

Through a selection of artworks spanning different cultures, media, and historical periods, this exhibition invites visitors to consider the complex relationship between representation and social identity.
Representation matters because it shapes our understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. Through this exhibition, we have explored the power of art to shape social identity and the ways in which representation can empower or marginalize individuals and communities. By considering the complex relationship between representation and social identity, we can become more aware of the impact of representation on our lives, and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
